and unforgettable experiences.

Bambi, Poppy and Rua the Deer

These elegant red deer are native to Ireland and are normally quite shy. However these deer were hand reared on bottles and so are very friendly and will eat food out of your hand. The male, Bambi, is the stag and every spring he starts to grow new antlers and the old antlers fall out. However, on the farm we take the antlers off Bambi in September as the males get quite dangerous and can injure the females.

Donkeys, Zelda and Zara

Mother and daughter these two are very close. They are so clever that when they are out wandering around the farm they can open gates to feed sheds and have been known to help visitors to eat the odd picnic or two.

Ducks and Geese

You will probably hear these guys before you see them. They love swimming in the pond and are the only ones that don’t mind the wet days!

Emu

The emus are Emily and Edward. The father, Eddie, is normally seen on the farm with his babies as he hatches the eggs and rares the chicks. Emily is happy to have her space and loves eating food out of all the visitors bags of food. They are very cheeky birds often trying to take the whole bag off people so they get all the food in one go!

The Cheeky Goats

There are two different types of goats on the farm, the small ones are pygmy goats and the larger ones are Anglo Nubian goats with their floppy ears. They just love eating food from peoples hands when they visit. The baby goats are normally born in the spring and they love playing and climbing on all the playground equipment you will see in their paddock.

Tinkerbell The Fella Bella Horse

The Falabella miniature horse is one of the smallest breeds of horses in the world. They come from Argentina and are seldom taller than 32 inches in height. The Falabella, despite its size, is not considered a pony, but rather is a miniature horse. The smaller the horse or pony the more cheeky it can be. The bigger horses tend be more laid back.

Jake the Jacob Sheep

These sheep come from the Middle East. They are shy animals – with the exception of some of the pet lambs that were reared on bottle as they were triplets and the mother might not have enough milk for all the lambs. Males have a very impressive set of four horns and females can have either two or four horns.

Joshlynn

Joshlynn is an African Grey parrot. She, like Rio, can live to be very old – up to 70 years. She is also very good at talking and loves to sing and dance. Her favourite song is ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’ and the McDonalds theme song.

Meerkats - Timon and Meara

These two are quite shy until their favourite food is produced, mealworms. As soon as they see the mealworms they will try to climb up your leg to get them and will eat them off your hands. However they could mistake your finger as food and they have very sharp teeth so only the animal minders get to feed them. In the wild in Africa they live in large groups that sleep on an intricate underground network of tunnels. They tend to move from tunnel to tunnel each night so predators wont know which tunnel they have slept in.

Monkeys: George and Gina

George and Gina – they are very funny little guys! They are Capuchin Monkeys from South America. They are one of the most intelligent monkeys and can be trained to do some amazing things such as work dvd players and microwaves. George is the cheeky one in this family and he loves trying to scare little and big visitors by jumping at the window and giving them a fright.

Bubbles the Vietnamese Pot Belly Pig

These pigs are very friendly animals and have behaviours similar to dogs. They can often be seen following their owners around the farm and some people train them to walk on leads. Pigs are very intelligent animals, they are quick to open gates often letting other animals out of their paddock too.

Rio

Rio is a blue and yellow macaw parrot from the South America. He is only a baby still and they can live to be 80 years old. He is very cheeky and loves all the attention from people talking to him when they visit the farm. He is still learning words but can say lots of little phrases like “Hello, how are you?” and  “I love you”. He knows all our names and is always copying the animals noises that he hears around the farm.

Spiky Mick

Spiky Mick the bearded dragon: You will either love or hate lizards but Spiky Mick is a very relaxed and friendly little guy. His favourite food is crickets or locusts, when he sees them he sticks out his tongue and pulls them into his mouth. Yum!

Lady our Belted Galloway and Heidi the Scottish Highland

Lady our Belted Galloway and Heidi the Scottish Highland are both cows. Heidi is often mistaken for a bull because of her horns. Both breeds are quite a tough breed and are used to tough environments. The Belted Galloway are very distinctive with their wide white belt.

Alannah the Alpaca

Alpacas are shy, but if you get them young, they can be trained to walk on leads and they can be very friendly. They are smaller than the llama and have longer wool that need to be sheared every year, similar to sheep.
